Version 26.1.0 — A Complete Chap App Rebuild

If you have the previous version of the Chap App, you'll notice that this update is not a small refresh. The entire app has been rebuilt for the 2026-2027 season and beyond. What you loved about the original app, especially the live Westlake broadcast, is still your home for all live coverage. We're excited to launch an entire hub of Westlake Nation information. This release expands the app into a full Westlake athletics platform:

Enjoy the all-new tab structure; Home, Teams, Fan Zone, Events and More • Rosters and staff for multiple sports and a dedicated Fan Zone for blog posts, photo galleries, podcasts, cheer, WHSTEC, and Game Day Program content. You'll have access to a full events calendar with sport filters and refresh. We've redesigned player profile cards with swipe navigation. Get the latest news and enable push notification so you can stay up to date.

THANK YOU, WESTLAKE NATION

We launched the Chap App in 2009 and since we debuted, so many of you have shared your stories about where and when you were when you heard the Chaps win. From hotel rooms in Europe to the beaches of Antigua and the stands at Chaparral Stadium, the Chap App has been all over the world. This rebuild carries forward the Friday night tradition and builds the app Westlake fans deserve for every sport and every season.

Welcome to the new Chap App. This is Westlake Nation.

Note: Requires iOS 18.5 or later. Live streams, podcasts, and content availability vary by event and season. 26.1.2 Sep 1 Update notes for existing users — how 26.1.0 differs from the old 6.3.0 app.

Version 26.1.0 — A Complete Rebuild

If you have the Chap App from before, this update is not a small refresh. The entire app has been rebuilt for the 2026 season. What you loved about the original — especially live Westlake Football audio — is still here. What's changed is everything around it.

FROM FOOTBALL-ONLY TO ALL OF CHAP NATION

The previous Chap App (version 6.3.0) was built primarily around live game audio and football. This release expands the app into a full Westlake athletics platform:

• All-new tab structure: Home, Teams, Fan Zone, Events, and More • Rosters and staff for multiple sports — not just football • A dedicated Fan Zone for blog posts, photo galleries, podcasts, cheer, WHSTEC, and Game Day Program content • A full Events calendar with sport filters and refresh • Redesigned player profile cards with swipe navigation • Cheer roster with photos and full-screen profile cards • News, push notification support, and in-app support

LIVE AUDIO — IMPROVED, NOT REPLACED

Listen Live remains a centerpiece of the app. What's new:

• Background playback while browsing other sections • Mini-player when you navigate away from audio • Live stream schedule surfaced on Home • Podcasts and interviews organized in the Fan Zone instead of buried in menus

ROSTERS & TEAMS — NEW SYSTEM

Team data now loads from a unified master roster across sports. Player cards show photos where available and a clear placeholder when none is on file. Staff directories are available per program. The Teams experience is built to scale as more sports are added to the sheet.

FAN ZONE — BRAND NEW SECTION

This did not exist in the previous app. The Fan Zone consolidates:

• Game Day Blog • SmugMug photo galleries by sport • Podcasts from Westlake Nation • Cheer team, roster, and staff • WHSTEC content • Game Day Program viewer

HOME & EVENTS — REIMAGINED

Home now leads with Next Up, live stream info, news categories, and game-day weather. Events replaces the older schedule experience with a calendar view, today shortcut, sport filter, and pull-to-refresh — making it easier to answer "what's happening this week?" at a glance.

DESIGN & RELIABILITY

Every major screen has new layout and navigation patterns shared across tabs — consistent banners, section headers, and scroll behavior. The codebase was rebuilt for faster loading, smoother scrolling, and greater stability on game day.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER UPDATING

• The app will look and navigate differently — that's intentional • You may be prompted to enable push notifications again • Some screens load content on first visit to improve launch performance • Live streams and podcasts depend on scheduled events — availability varies by season

THANK YOU

To everyone who has used the Chap App since the early days: thank you. This rebuild carries forward the Friday night tradition and builds the app Westlake fans deserve for every sport, every season.
